StopSB202 Overview

Between the House Education Committee hearing on February 14 and the governor’s signing on March 13, the StopSB202 campaign accomplished amazing things:

  • We gave over THREE HOURS of testimony at the House Education Committee hearing on February 14.
  • We brought over 600 pages of letters from concerned constituents to members of the legislature.
  • We tracked over 110 press hits about the bill, including national outlets like the Chronicle of Higher Education, Inside Higher Education, Forbes, and The Guardian. This included 18 radio and televisions spots and ten opinion pieces.
  • We sent 7865 letters to House Education Committee members and 250 letters to the governor.
  • We made 700 phone calls to members of the legislature and 550 phone calls to the governor.
  • Day of Action events on February 26-27 educated people around the state, including a crowd of over 60 people at Indiana State University and a demonstration with students at Indiana University-Bloomington.
  • Faculty senates and AAUP chapters stood united against the bill.
  • AAUP membership grew by more than 10% across Indiana.
  • More people in Indiana than ever before know that the AAUP’s work to protect academic freedom and shared governance benefits all citizens.
