The INAAUP held its spring conference, “Organizing for What’s Next,” on April 27 at the University of Indianapolis. We had an amazing day of panels, reflection, and conversation.

The opening panel was a discussion of the StopSB202 campaign, with Campaign Director Alice Pawley (Purdue-WL). INAAUP President Moira Marsh (IU-B) presented Alice with the INAAUP Distinguished Service Award.

A second morning panel, “Assaults on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Higher Education” featured CariAnn Freed, the Director of Institutional Belonging and Title IX Coordinator at the University of Indianapolis, and Russ Skiba, Professor Emeritus (IU-Bloomington) and co-founder of the University Alliance for Racial Justice. The conversation was moderated by Steve Carr (Purdue-FW).

Afternoon panels included a discussion with Philipp Rosemann, president of the AAUP chapter at the University of Kentucky, where the Board and administration have systematically dismantled the faculty senate. David Nalbone (Purdue-NW) and former president of the INAAUP led the final session, a discussion of how faculty senates can control implementation of SB202.
